Ballet Theatre Afrikan and Free Flight Dance Company present 'Windows' at the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown, South Africa on Wednesday July 6, 2005. Martin Schönberg, artistic director of Ballet Theatre Afrikan, and Adele Blank, artistic director of Free Flight Dance Company spin a web of innocence and deception in this innovative work, bringing beauty as well as a sense of the fallability of humanity to the stage. In this unique collaboration by two of South Africa's leading choreographers, the audience plyas the role of a 'voyeur'. Looking through the windows of an apartment blo9ck, one is drawn into the bustle of everyday corporate life, the meetings of friends, the games of children and the humdrum progress of daily existence. But delving deeper, one finds the despair of desperate housewives, the intrigue of lust and jealousy and the provocative allure of passion. The artists interpert the various roles with artistic sensitivity, which is enhanced by physical prowess and the technical expertise in a fusion of classical ballet and contemporary dance.
